Award-winning filmmaker and talented visual artist from Cartagena, Colombia, with a special eye in storytelling for a positive cause. Danny has been involved in the media industry since he graduated in 2004 with a Media Arts Degree from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. Danny has worked in well-known production companies in the USA and abroad. In the past years, as a freelancer or on business ventures, Danny has had close relationships with companies such as CNN, Caracol Television (Colombia), Tele Pacifico (Colombia), Univision, NBC Universal, Telemundo, FilmOption International (Canada), Quicksilver Media (UK), Channel 4 (UK), Ogilvy & Mather, Direktor films, Atlantic Television, Moving Pictures, AUD Pop, Canela Media, Sofy TV and INE Entertainment.
In 2013 he founded his production company DHO Studios LLC with the vision of creating projects closer to his heart. Danny has won numerous awards with documentaries such as “Interrupted Destinies” in which he won the coveted Victor Nieto Award at the Cartagena film festival and Best foreign documentary at the Atlanta Docu fest. La Boquilla, My Paradise received 8 awards and other projects have made it to the final stages of the Natpe film market. Projects such as Mani Cura have been selected at the Cannes film festival. In the advertisement sector, Danny was a producer for the viral AD campaign AeroMexico DNA discounts – there are no borders between us. The ad won the Lions bronze award at Cannes Lions Festival, an Effie award, and the D&Ad at The One Show Awards. In September 2020 he worked as one of the key producer’s for Emmy and BAFTA award winning UK Company Quicksilver Media’s major documentary film “Trump’s Coronavirus Catastrophe” – under UK’s Channel 4 long standing series “Dispatches”. He worked alongside celebrated journalist Matt Frei and director Richard Sanders. Amongst various projects in the works, “Two Sons, Two fathers, two cartels” plans to unite for the first time, rival cartel heirs Juan Pablo Escobar, son of the infamous and most notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar of the Medellin Cartel and William Rodriguez, son of Miguel Rodriguez Orejuela, founder of the Cali Cartel. The goal is to portrait a message of peace and reconciliation.
Danny is an avid guest speaker to the Film Studies students in universities around South Florida. He has been portrayed in important press, radio, and TV shows. His projects, being films or advertising work, have been selected in prestigious film festivals around the globe, secured distribution, and garnished multiple accolades.
